Small robot, big job

We interviewed Brian Hall and Chris Casper, members of the Facilities and Maintenance team at Sylvania Recreation District. They talked about how the TinyLineMarker can effortlessly paint 15 pitches in a day and the efficiency with which their team can operate around and behind the robot as it does its work.

How one tiny robot managed 27 fields in 2 days

For large sports complexes, preparing for tournaments can take weeks of setup and long hours of pitch painting. At this facility, preparing for a major 27-pitch tournament used to start nearly ten days in advance. But with TinyMobileRobots, that process has been completely transformed. This year marked the first time the team used the TinyMobileRobot for such a large event — and it performed flawlessly.

“If there was one piece of equipment in my shop that my board said I could no longer have, it certainly wouldn’t be the TinyLineMarker. I guarantee that would be the last piece of equipment to leave my shop — and my staff would say the same."

In just two days, one person managed to paint every pitch for the tournament while also setting up goals, flags, and rubbish bins. On the first day alone, the robot painted fifteen pitches, finishing the rest on Friday — an incredible improvement in both efficiency and flexibility. The team even found creative new uses for the robot, from painting car parks to marking a girls’ lacrosse pitch, proving its versatility across multiple surfaces and sports.
With TinyMobileRobots, the staff can now wait until just a few days before each league starts to line their pitches. Different divisions and rec programs begin at different times, and the robot’s speed allows them to prepare each one right before match day. While the robot paints, staff can focus on moving goals, setting up nets, and making sure the facility is ready for play. It’s a total game-changer in how they plan, schedule, and manage their pitches.
